[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][imageeffect image=”4283″ type=”shadowreflection” alt=”Foot file” titleoverlay=”” lightbox=”” target=”_self”][vc_column_text]Chilblains are small red swellings that occur as a reaction to cold temperature, especially in damp weather. They may be itchy, cause burning pain, and in some case can become infected. In the foot, chilblains commonly affect the toes and are a particular problem for those with circulatory disorders or diabetes.
However, simple steps can be taken to avoid them!
•    Do not get your feet too cold or chilled.
•    Insulate your feet by wearing long socks or hosiery made from cotton, silk or wool.
•    Wear accommodative footwear with an insulated lining and thicker soles.
•    When indoors wear an insulated slipper, such as sheepskin.
•    If your feet do get chilled AVOID warming them up on heat sources, such as radiators.
•    Keep the feet moisturised with a good moisturiser, such as Simply Feet foot cream.
•    If you are prone to chilblains, use a specialised cream such as Akilwinter Chilblain and Frostbite Prevention Cream.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
