I first saw Lyndon to consult with him regarding my very painful bunion joint and collapsing arch.  This had got to the stage where I was finding it extremely difficult to undertake sporting activities, particularly after a long day working at the hospital.  Lyndon was really kind and diagnosed the problem as hallux valgus with an unstable metatarsal.  He explained that, for me, the surgery would have to involve fusion of a joint in my foot to stabilise the metatarsal and some of the arch function.  Also for the long term I would require orthotics and rehabilitation exercises to help me get back to the level of activity that I wanted.  He explained that this would take a full six months before I was confidently using my foot and considering running.

Well here I am now, one year later, about to take on the 100km challenge to help raise funds for these poor people in Nepal who have suffered so much.  Without the help of the whole team at TFH I know I would not be able to walk around Salisbury let alone do this!  I continue to see the team to help keep up my activity, but I am really pleased to say I have not had to see Lyndon again since he discharged me following the surgery!

If you would like to help me raise money through the challenge then please check out my just giving page – donate now – THANK YOU.
