“In February 2016, I attended the ‘Living with Diabetes Day’ at the White Hart Hotel in Salisbury, organised by Diabetes UK. The day was designed to help people to learn more about how they can manage their type 2 diabetes. This was a great opportunity for people with the condition to speak with diabetes health professionals, as well as others affected by the condition, which now affects more than 4 million people in the UK. Foot health is a core aspect of diabetes care, as the condition is well known to lead to serious foot problems such as ulceration and amputation. I provided a stand offering diabetes foot care prevention advice, which proved extremely popular with the delegates. It was also a great opportunity for me to network with other health professionals involved with diabetes care including diabetologists, dieticians and diabetes nurses”.
“Hotter produce comfort shoes and work closely with podiatrists. In fact, they are one of the most common brands of shoe recommended by podiatrists across the UK. In March 2016, I provided a foot health stand at a VIP evening at the Hotter Salisbury store, offering free foot care advice. I spoke to several customers about their foot problems, a couple of who reported problems with ingrowing toenails. This is a common problem which can be easily remedied by a minor surgical procedure called a partial nail ablation (PNA) that we perform in clinic”.
