David Owen’s training took place at the Wales Centre for Podiatric Studies in Cardiff and since qualification in 2009 he has developed his clinical skills in both private practice and the NHS. He is experienced in the prevention of diabetic foot disease, minor surgery (for ingrowing toenails and verrucae) as well as traditional chiropody practice. David is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
Originally from Redruth in Cornwall, David was educated in Salisbury and began his career in health care as a nursing assistant at Salisbury District Hospital in 2004, where he undertook general nursing duties. In 2006 he joined the pharmacy at Harcourt Medical Practice in Salisbury as a pharmacy assistant, where he gained valuable knowledge of pharmacy. At this time David developed a keen interest in podiatry, resulting in a move to Cardiff in order to begin training as a podiatrist.
In 2009 David graduated from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff with a BSc (Hons) in podiatry and moved back to Salisbury, initially joining a private podiatry practice. In 2011 he joined the NHS podiatry service in Portsmouth where he developed his knowledge in the prevention of foot ulceration, before finally joining Total Foot Health in 2013, due to its excellent reputation as a progressive, multi-disciplinary clinic.
David is experienced in the prevention of diabetic foot disease, minor surgery (for in-growing toenails and verrucae) as well as traditional chiropody practice. He also assists Lyndon at New Hall hospital where he provides anaesthetic and pre-operative care to patients undergoing foot surgery. David prides himself on being a gentle and thorough clinician who aims to provide the highest level of care to his patients through active continuation of professional development. He is currently studying for the MSc in podiatry at the University of Brighton of which he anticipates completion in 2017.
In his spare time David enjoys walking, swimming, tennis and fishing.
